I love family photoshoots, and capturing wholesome and fun and energetic moments.
I love that they're unpredictable and joyous and capturing wholesome moments to keep forever.
Ashlie won a photoshoot competition, and that's why we went to Jimmy's beach, with her partner and her child. We had lots of fun - so much that I could capture 800 images in one hour, then culled down to 400.
If there's something I'm going to do well, it's deliver more images than anyone else.
What's the good of these images staying on my SD card when they can stay with the client forever?

My best tips for family photoshoots:
Don't wear shirts or cloths with trendy logos (because they will age the images, and you will realise - oh that was so 2009 etc)
Bring backup clothes in case someone gets wet/food/stain etc.
Lots of people do the white shirt and jeans - so everyone has done the white shirt and jeans, be classy but be yourselves as well.
No hairbands on the wrist.
No phones in pockets - you don't want your hips, legs or sides to look lumpy for no reason.

Look - I'm guilty of being very obsessed with my own work. I used different lighting tones in this image, as we weren't actually able to get the sunset, and so I used the yellow filter to increase the warmth of the photo to make it look more like a sunset.
She was very happy to play in the water and play in the sand, and she must of had a nap beforehand, because she was perfect for the whole hour. She didn't specifically smile on demand, so she wasn't doing anything she didn't want to do, so she was really happy = which makes perfect photos.
Giving her the space to be happy makes perfect photos.

And you can even see her little foot prints in the sand. Ahh perfect.
We were a little worried about the weather, because it was sprinkling just beforehand, but it was perfect for just this hour. Also - she loved gifting sand. She was very happy. Makes for perfect photos.
I'd love to photograph your next family photoshoot - please feel free to get in contact below.
